L.O.L. O.M.G. Super Sonix Super Surprise

Note: Click on pics to enlarge!

This review is taking a temporary reversion to my old boring format but I've recorded the whole unboxing for your viewing pleasure. Please forgive the quality, it's my fourth vid, so I'm still learning how to use Filmora to its full extent.

The full time of the unboxing, dressing and tidy up took over two hours which I've crammed into two 20 min parts with the magic of editing. Split in two cause my account wasn't verified and it was talking 12+ hours to upload D:

[Part 1]

[Part2]

I took pictures during the unboxing up until I removed Bhad Girl from the box because her face shocked me so much I forgot to keep taking photos. They're kind of pointless because I filmed the whole thing, so I'll be mostly taking a more in-depth look at just the dolls here.

The L.O.L. O.M.G. Super Sonix Super Surprise can be found at Target and Big W for $199. If you were smart (not like me) and waited for the Christmas sales, you would have picked it up for $149. Fear not, as it's over $50, you can Layby and pay at your own pace instead of forking out nearly $200 on the spot.

The box is huge; x long, x high and x wide, and is also quite heavy. I didn't weigh it unfortunately but I think it was around the 5kg range when full.

The front and back are identical to each other, as are the ends, and it's got a handle in the middle for EZ PZ carrying.

The front of the box can be completely removed but I left mine on so I could store it easier.

There's 67 steps to fully unboxing the set so you'll need a bit of free time and some patience.

The best thing about this box, its contents and the waste is it's almost completely recyclable. It's mostly cardboard with some plastic bits here and there, so if you don't want to keep it, you can rest assured knowing it won't stick around for a thousand years after you throw it away.

All the accessories and the little sisters are wrapped in either paper baggies or tissue paper, colour coded and themed to the big sis/lil sis pair which can be recycled too, or kept for crafts.

Pink belongs to Metal Chick and Metal Babe, Green is Bhad Gurl and Bhaddie's, Black is Fame Queen and Goo-Goo Queen, and Red is Ferocious and Fierce's.

All the little sisters have the boring spit water feature and do not colour change. :(

--------------------

Bhad Gurl's face has me unsettled and disappointed. I've seen better quality aftermarket heads on AliExpress, it really makes me question what exactly the passing standards are. She looks like she's drunk. She'll be wearing her drippy glasses until something can be done.

[Bhad's BAD face, yikes][2]

Her hair isn't as straight and edgy as I'd like it, so I would like to fix it unless I'm given a replacement head, so for now, I'm not touching it.

[Angled chopped hair][3]
Her fishnet suit thing stained her body and has left behind mould-like marks on the pale plastic of her legs. It looks like shadows in the pictures, but it's definitely stained. This girl can never wear shorts now. So sad.

[stains, sad][4]

Two or three of her vest studs came off while dressing and handling, which I'd seen happen in other unboxing videos and tried my best to prevent, but it's inevitable. Hard embellishments are weakly glued to slippery pliable vinyl, there's not much to be done than to glue them back on and hope it doesn't happen again.

[studded jacket][5]

It's terrifying putting the drumkit brace over it because it can and will knock studs off. The drumkit is crazy big by the way, and she can hold her drumsticks in the same holes her rings are.

[The Drummer][6]

Overall though, Bhad Gurl's green goth-punk toxic chemical waste look is really on point and her trash panda stockings/sleeves are a nice touch.

[Goth punk toxic chemaical wast acid lookin'][7]

At first, I didn't see anything greatly wrong with little Bhaddie, just the standard tot quality I've seen, but then I noticed the linear scrapes on her legs. They line up front and back, and I'd seen it before, earlier, with the extra pair of Metal Babe shoes that were caught in the seam of the baggie. It looks like she got caught at the top of the baggie and sealed in, and a worker thought it'd be fine to peel it off and put her back in. No, Mr Factory Worker, you have ruined this tots pants, and it ended up in my chronically OCD hands so I will definitely need a replacement.

[factory yikes][8]

She's still a real cutie though, with the gold accents and pops of green, but I feel she pulled the short straw when picking instruments with her basic as heck cymbals.

[Bhaddie][9]

Inspiration for Bhad Gurl and her siblings has definitely come from Billie Eilish, especially her iconic green and black grunge looks. She seems to have some Lady Gaga aspects as well. She doesn't really feel like Billie to me though, and if you've seen The Owl House, you'll know what I'm about to say. I'm gonna call this pale green punk woman Amity. Little Bhaddie though I think I'll call Lil Eilish.

--------------------

Metal Chick is a close second to Fame Queen with the least amount of issues to the doll itself, with a mild scratch to her left pupil and a crazy cowlick. The cowlick is and easy fix, the eye is doable too but will require some patience, clear coat, and a steady hand.

[Metal Chick with the Cowlick][10]

I really feel like pigtails, braids and twists are being overdone though; the designers really need to find something else to do with all this hair. Simply curled pigtails would be fine, even crinkled like Fame Queen's for a different texture...anything but braids.

Metal Chick's vest flakes like the chocolate of the same name and are incredibly stiff. It's quite difficult to not only get it on but pose the doll while she's wearing it so I've opted to leave it off when I photograph and display her.

[Stiff flake jacket][11]

It's unknown to me but I either broke her corset while putting it on, or it came like that. The plastic loop on one side is weak and thinner than the other and snapped in the middle, It still holds, but I'm not game to take her stand clasp off her body anymore cause it'll probably come apart.

[haha oops][12]

[belt][13]

The collar of Metal Chick's bodysuit was never sewn to the neckline and is loose. There are a few holes in her sheer skirt where there are seams, and one of her socks isn't even hemmed.

[detatched collar][14]

She's got an interesting goth-loli-punk-rock style and I can't say it works. There's a little too much going on and it's a bit of an eyesore and the double-necked guitar is trying too hard. She looks like Draculaura discovered heavy metal and is going through an emo phase.

[double neck guitarist][15]

Metal Babe's eyes are printed off centre and as a result, her Catseye lash on one side is cut short, and her black eyebrow is touching her eye. It sucks! I liked her. I'll need to find a new head.

[Eyelash and eye lid whackiness][16]

Her guitar is one of my favourite things about her. If the Pinkie Pie's Boutique doll played an instrument, it'd be this.

[little guitar kid][17]

I didn't have a clue who Metal Chick and co. are inspired by until I did a quick search and found connections to Melanie Martinez's pink-black look crossed with Baby Metal's punk rock style. I'm totally cool with naming her Melanie - that's my middle name and I love it. I'm not sure what Metal Babe should be called. Any suggestions?

--------------------

If it weren't for her eyes, Ferocious would probably have been my favourite. They're printed too high on her face and she looks like she hasn't slept in a week, and for a long time after she'd been de boxed her head would come off. It doesn't seem to anymore though.

[baggy eyes][18]

Her hair shed a little too which is okay and fairly normal for some curly hair dolls. Some of her microbraids just didn't stay curled and look gross.

[spaghetti hair][19]

Her outfit fits together the best and isn't painful to look at. The red of her bodysuit doesn't match anything on her until you add the guitar to 'complete' her look. The print does match elsewhere though, to her eyeshadow and shoes.

[rockin' bb][20]

I love her coat thing but there are some seam issues at the sides and the thread has come loose.

[seams splitting][21]

Her chain belt is super awesome though.
[dope chain belt][22]

In Fierce's design, its really obvious where the origin of Ferocious' cheetah animal print came from. I'm not a huge fan of animal prints, contrary to my favour of Ferocious, so Fierce's full pattern outfit just doesn't do it for me. I checked out her original release, and her colour change is so cool, I wish they had've continued that in this set. I didn't think she had any serious flaws until I looked at these close-ups. Yikes.

[Little Fierce][23]

Ferocious' family is obviously BeyoncĂ© inspired, with a touch of Prince, so I have no problem with calling this girl BeyoncĂ©. The little sis on the other hand doesn't have great importance to me, so I honestly cannot be bothered naming her.

--------------------

Fame Queen seems to be the least problematic of the Super Sonix in regards to quality control. The worst of her issues are a slight misalignment of her right eye in the mould, over-done glossing below her bottom lip, stray gold paint on her hat (it looks rubbed cause I tried to rub it off, took some of the metallic with it ;n;) and the paint missing from the spikes and zipper head of her left boot. Unlike the others, these are minor, manageable and tolerable for me. Just. I must say though she looks so much like Gaga's iconic Just Dance look with the lightning bolt under her eye.

[Fame's issues][24]

My fave parts of Fame are her jacket and boots - they sure are something else :)

[rockstar jacket][25]

The silver bolt can be removed from her glasses to make them neutral black.

[removable bolt][26]

Her skirt is questionable. It doesn't stay around her waist, it won't go around her leg - the band is too short :/

[waistband too smol][27]

Little Goo-Goo is glittery as heck and it comes off everywhere. There was way too much glitter clumped on her shoes that I had to remove, and the silver isn't printed on the zipper of her pants where it should be. ACK. One day the glitter and lining things up correctly shall be mastered.

[whacked out glitter and paint][28]

On the plus side, her face is pretty straight.

[look at that tiny keyboard tho][29]

Fame Queen and her gang are also pretty obvious - Lady Gaga, but that's still a stage name. Gaga's real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, but Stefani is fine with me. Goo-Goo Queen can be called Baby Gaga hehehe

---------------------

Each of the big sister's instruments plays 6 clips of music and with the right combination and timing, you can make your own jams! I did some and posted them on IG. You can find them in my LOL highlights on my profile below the bio. They're also near the end of my Youtube video. Fame Queen's keytar has some suspicious borderline Copywrite-strikable clips that sound like some of Gaga's own, but just different enough to not be. Button 4 and 6 sound a LOT like Bad Romance clips.

Originally I intended on rehoming all four of the Opening Act - the little sisters, but I actually quite like Bhaddie and Metal Babe. It's a real shame about their flaws though. Goo-Goo Queen is growing on me, but this Fierce release has yet to impress me and she is a part of the band, so she stays.

Overlooking some of the yucky issues of the big sisters, I do quite like them (I'd hope so, they weren't cheap!). They're not up to my standards though and I have contacted MGA for replacement parts but they don't have to give me anything, so I need to source aftermarket stuff in case.

They're getting on the level with Mattel's poor Barbie quality and it's really disappointing because I really like OMG's.
